Product care

All of our work is made from stoneware clay using 100% lead-free, food-safe glazes and materials and is created to be both dishwasher and microwave-safe. Our handmade stoneware is designed to be quite durable, but there are a few things you can do to help ensure the longevity of your new pot.

Cleaning

Our pots are dishwasher-safe. Dishwasher detergent can be caustic to ceramics, and the extra jostling and hot water will cause extra wear and tear. If you choose to wash them by hand, using a soft scrub brush with dish soap and avoiding metal and/or abrasive sponges will help avoid scratches.

Microwaving

Microwaving our pots is perfectly fine. The only caveat is that you should not microwave any pots that have a metallic glaze or attachment on them. I don't currently use gold or other metallic glazes on any of my pieces, but if you do have handmade or commercially made pottery with such detailing, make sure to keep them out of the microwave. Items coming out of the microwave will be hot to the touch, so please handle them with care.

Temperature Control

Our pottery is very capable of handling both hot temperatures and cold temperatures. However, when a piece is taken from one extreme to the other quickly, it can cause the pottery to crack or break (for example: removing a baking dish from the refrigerator and placing directly into a hot oven). For pieces that have been stored in a cold refrigerator, allow some time to come to room temperature before placing them in a hot oven. Avoid placing any pottery over an open flame or directly over a heating element (cooktop, burner, etc.).

With proper care, your new handmade stoneware should last a lifetime. Thank you for choosing to bring handmade artisan wares into your home.
